Snogo in the Wild

Snogo in the Wild

Hey Fam,

This month’s story really hits home. It’s about connection, and how sometimes, without even noticing, we slip out of sync.

But then comes Chloe. With that signature sparkle, she drops some deep insight and a story that’s pure Snogo magic—the kind of moment we live for in this community.

Friends reconnecting around a kitchen table

I recently got together with my very good friends from college, Jane, Babs, Tom, and Goldie.

Goldie and I live in the same city and we’re still close, I love her, that’s my b****, and I’m hers. I think. I better be. But Goldie and I kept being friends after college without any disruption.

Tom, Jane, and Babs though—neither Goldie or I had hung out with them in person since we graduated. We’re all on socials and during the lockdowns back in 2020, 2021 (I can’t even remember) we had lots of quality zooming together, but after school they scattered out, everyone’s busy, so on, so on.

BUT now we’re all in Maine for a wedding and staying at Jane’s, and last night, when we all first came together looking one another in the faces as a group for the first time in 9 years…

It was so weird. We were so weird. It wasn’t there.

We were all in Jane’s kitchen, her actual, grown-up kitchen. We’d all been excited in email to make family dinner together like we used to, but right away last night, something was way off. We were talking, catching up, but the convo was so polite, so surface, so weird. And wine just made it feel worse. We were strangers to each other, acquaintances, I’ve seen better banter on LinkedIn. Had we all become boring adults? Nooooooo!!!!

Then, Goldie to the rescue, all of a sudden her Snogo is out and she’s nonchalantly passing it to Tom, and then everyone partook. The fact that Goldie brought her straw on the plane and had found cacao here in Lewiston – (did I already say that’s my b****? LOVE her) – that was the spark, and then, there we were. We were so back.

I want to talk about walls. That’s what we were dealing with at first. As the night unfolded, prepping, cooking, eating, bringing Jane’s kitchen back to pristine, and talking about everything everyone anything and nothing all at once in no particular order, it became more and more apparent that our respective time out in the real world had led us to build walls around ourselves.

College kids get to be like raw nerves, just open and ready to experience. But the real world, the working world, dating, loving, losing, all of it… you have to keep yourself going, keep yourself safe. You can’t avoid the hard knocks, but you can get better at not taking them square in the kisser. So up go the walls.

The lesson from last night was that the walls we build can keep us safe, but they can also keep the best parts of us hidden. Thanks to Snogo (and Goldie, obviously), we let each other back in. We were reminded that even after all these years, we’re still each other’s people — and nothing feels better than that.

Chloe

Life’s not always soft. We all feel it. So it makes sense—most of us walk out into the world with a little armor on.

But what Chloe shared? That cracked something open. It’s such a powerful example of how those invisible walls can rise up without us even realizing… and how, when we choose to, we can let them fall.

That’s the heart of Snogo In The Wild. That’s the heart of Snogo, period. It’s about connection. About unity. About wild, golden-souled friends like Goldie. And about choosing—again and again—to stay open. To show up. To feel it all.

Got a Snogo In The Wild moment? We’d love to hear it. They remind us why we do what we do.

Big Love,
AY
